SOP for Formulation Trials in R&D Lab

This Standard Operating Procedure is issued to guide clients in properly converting SaitechLabs formulation guidelines into validated laboratory trials, test reports, customer samples, pilot plant trials, and production SOPs.

Clients are advised not to keep formulation guidelines merely on paper, computer files, or databases without practical validation. Formulations must be tested by trained chemists, documented with observations, supported with photographs wherever possible, and shared with SaitechLabs for technical review.

Purpose

The purpose of this SOP is to ensure that every formulation guideline supplied by SaitechLabs is systematically evaluated in the R&D laboratory before pilot plant scale-up or commercial production.

Important Advisory to Clients

Formulation Trial SOP

1

Understand Product Chemistry

Know the chemistry of the product, its raw materials, manufacturing method, and application process by attending online classes or technical meetings with the SaitechLabs consultant.

2

Collect Raw Materials

Collect all required raw materials. If approved vendors are not available, develop suitable vendors or request SaitechLabs for vendor development support.

3

Test Raw Materials

Test all raw materials before use. The final quality of the product depends strongly on the quality and consistency of raw materials.

4

Conduct Lab Scale Trial

If the raw materials meet the required standards, proceed with lab-scale trial under the supervision of an approved or properly trained chemist.

5

Prepare Test Report

Prepare a detailed test report with batch size, raw materials, process conditions, observations, test results, photographs, and remarks. Share the report with SaitechLabs. Share samples with customers only when confident about the sample quality.

6

Get Feedback

Obtain technical feedback from SaitechLabs and practical performance feedback from the customer. Record all comments in writing.

7

Proceed to Costing

If the trial results and feedback are satisfactory, proceed to raw material costing, packing cost estimation, and commercial feasibility analysis.

8

Scale Up to Pilot Plant

Scale up the formulation carefully to pilot plant level. Observe changes in mixing, dispersion, heating, cooling, viscosity, appearance, stability, and application properties.

9

Standardise Production SOP

After successful pilot plant validation, standardise the production SOP and proceed with controlled production only after QC approval.

10

Read Disclaimer

All formulation trials must be carried out subject to the SaitechLabs formulation trial disclaimer.

Conclusion

SaitechLabs formulation guidelines become useful only when clients actively conduct laboratory trials, document the results, interact with the consultant, and standardise the formulation through scientific validation. Consistent client support is essential to convert a formulation guideline into a reliable product dossier and quality manual.
