Product Overview Solvent Blend

Product NC Thinner (Nitrocellulose Thinner)
Grade / Use For NC lacquer / NC primer / NC topcoat
Description Fast-evaporating solvent blend designed to adjust viscosity, improve flow and application of Nitrocellulose (NC) lacquer systems while maintaining film appearance.
Key Benefits
  • Balances evaporation for smoother flow & levelling
  • Helps reduce brush/roller marks in NC coatings (trial)
  • Supports spray application with controlled flash-off
Appearance
Clear, colorless liquid (water-free)
Odour
Characteristic solvent odour
Flammability
Highly flammable liquid and vapour (solvent blend).
Pot Life
Not applicable (ready-to-use solvent blend)
Note: Actual evaporation/flow depends on NC resin, ambient temperature, humidity, spray pressure/nozzle, and film thickness.

Technical Properties

Typical Values (Guide Only)
Density @ 27°C 0.78 – 0.86 g/mL (typical solvent blend range)
Non-Volatile Matter ≈ 0% (solvent only)
Water Content < 0.1% (recommended; keep container tightly closed)
Evaporation Rate Fast (balanced blend; depends on formulation)
Solvency Suitable for NC resins and common NC lacquer additives
Flash Point Low (solvent blend) — test as per applicable standard for your batch

Application Guidance

Recommended Thinning 10–30% by volume (as per application & viscosity need)
Compatibility Nitrocellulose (NC) lacquers; NC primers; some quick-dry alkyd lacquers (trial required)
Mixing Add slowly to coating under stirring. Avoid moisture pickup. Filter coating if needed before spraying.
Cleanup Use NC thinner for cleaning spray guns, hoses and tools immediately after use.
Surface & Safety: Use only in well-ventilated areas. Keep away from heat/sparks/open flames. Avoid inhalation and skin contact. Follow local PPE and statutory requirements.
Storage: Store in tightly closed original container, cool & dry, away from oxidizers/acids, direct sunlight, and ignition sources. Do not contaminate with water.

Packaging, Shelf Life, and Disclaimer

Packaging 1 L, 5 L, 20 L, 50 L HDPE / MS containers (as agreed). Ensure solvent-safe liners/caps.
Shelf Life 12 months from manufacturing date when stored as recommended (guide).
Transport Classified as flammable liquid (final classification depends on composition). Ship as per local rules.
Disclaimer The information is provided in good faith based on typical laboratory and field experience and is intended as guidance. Actual performance depends on substrate, coating system, application method, and site conditions. Users must validate suitability and compliance.
